Located in the serene Shunyi District of Beijing, Youshan Meidi Villa is a masterpiece of minimalist design by Zhang Ling of Zhang Ling Design Studio and Shangceng Design Institute. This villa offers a seamless connection to the surrounding landscape, combining sunlight, open spaces, and elegant aesthetics to create a calm yet luxurious living environment.

Harmonics of Light and Space

At the heart of the villa lies a stunning central hall, reaching a height of 6 meters. Natural light floods the space through a skylight and floor-to-ceiling windows, creating a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. The hall extends into a lounge that opens directly to the garden, offering unobstructed views of nature.

The villa’s interiors are defined by a palette of white walls and off-white stone, which form a classic backdrop for bold furnishings. A custom steel fireplace blends seamlessly into the lounge, while a grand piano and a double-height bookshelf add sophistication. The garden, visible through large windows, becomes a living extension of the interior.

Fluid Spaces and Open Boundaries

Zhang Ling’s design emphasizes flow and freedom through an open-plan layout. Transparent balustrades and open walls blur the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. The dining and living areas are designed with minimalist materials, letting light, scale, and nature become the primary elements that define the space.

A Study in Serenity

The study offers a peaceful retreat, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing views of lush greenery. The connection between the tranquil interior and the dynamic natural world creates an atmosphere of calm energy. It’s a space for creativity and reflection, where one can write, draw, or simply enjoy the slow rhythm of life.

Sensory Comfort in the Private Spaces

The bedroom is a sanctuary of sensory comfort, featuring warm timber floors and understated furniture. Plentiful natural light and minimalist design promote a serene atmosphere. In the bathroom, an oval tub set against black-and-white marble patterns offers a tranquil space for relaxation, blending luxury with simplicity.

An Immersive Living Experience

Youshan Meidi Villa is more than a home—it’s an experience. From dining to relaxation, every moment is enriched by an atmosphere of elegant simplicity and harmony with nature. As day turns to night, soft lighting and views of the courtyard create a warm, inviting ambiance, making this villa a true retreat for the senses.
