With them, you gain a square meter of free space. These are generally a good idea, but not always essential. We review different examples.
In those small rooms a sliding door grants space. It is advisable to install a sliding door where it provides space. In spaces where a piece of furniture would otherwise remain behind a door that would have to be constantly moved to access it. And yes also where you want a colorful and original solution to communicate or delimit according to the use of the environment.
YES: FROM THE KITCHEN TO THE DINING ROOM
Especially when it wants to integrate. A designer sliding door (like a glass partition ) blends into the decor. For built-in kitchens, aesthetics are even more important so that they do not detract from the style of the living room or dining room. This black and barbell grid design are contemporary and eye-catching, thanks to the built-in roof rail and the extra floor-to-ceiling size.
YES: A SLIDE BETWEEN THE HALL AND LIVING ROOM
It is a good idea to install a sliding door between the living room and the hall when it is narrow and the door “occupies”. Likewise, if the folding leaf or leaves of a door are “suspended” in the room, it is also advisable to opt for a sliding system. Ideally, the doors should stick to a wall when they are open. So, in short, a sliding door is one of those reforms with which to gain meters.
DOUBLE SLIDING DOORS
Instead of one leaf, two sliding leaves are installed when the access gap to be covered is greater than 70-80 cm. The good thing about sliding doors is that you can create panels of special width or choose, as in this access to the living room, for two doors.
YES IN THE BATHROOM WHEN…
Any hinged opening door, when opened, must be glued to a wall. This is the ideal situation. If behind there is a closet, you should know that the door will get in the way slightly. In the case of a bathroom, a good orientation is for the folding door to open and stick to the shower. If you do it on the side of the sink, to use it you will have to close the door. This helps us to know if we need a sliding door, recommended both in the latter case.
THE STYLE OF THE SLIDING DOOR
Sliding doors are very useful in courtesy toilets that tend to be small. Thus, when entering, you do not have to dodge the toilet or the sink to close a door. In this project, it was decided to install a white lacquered sliding door so that the view would be that of the two opposite washbasin fronts. Otherwise, one would be hidden. From inside, the space is expanded with a mirror finish.
ACCESS TO THE DRESSING ROOM FROM THE BEDROOM
It is a place where you can put a sliding door so that no centimeters are lost in the sleeping area of the bedroom or the dressing room. If the clothing organization modules are open, it is advisable to install a door that preserves the space from dust. Here a plain and blind design has been chosen.
WHAT TYPE OF FINISH TO CHOOSE?
Sliding doors can have the same finish as the rest of the interior joinery or make a difference with special designs. They can be solid or hollow and lacquered or laminated (smooth or with moldings or grooves). Also made of wood. You can turn an old door into a sliding design and then it deserves to be seen and decorated on its own. Metal or wood profiles and glass are a trend. Whether they have a glass or not will depend on the level of privacy you want to achieve and whether it is necessary to gain light and distribute it.
