WHAT ARE THE AUXILIARY LIGHTS IN THE LIVING ROOM FOR?
Unlike the main pendant, the auxiliary lights are there to provide more precise lighting in an area of your living room. The pendant light will illuminate your entire room, while the other fixtures will have a limited impact. They are generally warmer than the main light and in the evening, they create a cozy and soft atmosphere conducive to relaxation. The accent lights will also not have the same intensity as the main light. Even for your reading light, the idea is not to dazzle you, but to improve the view thanks to your lighting system. We will also prefer warm and yellow lights, rather than white lights like neon lights.
THE READING LIGHT, FOR EVERYDAY COMFORT
After a busy day, our eyes are more tired and must be preserved. The reader is therefore practical and functional. It sits near the couch and diffuses enough light to help us read comfortably, without squinting and wrinkling your forehead. It can also be decorative since comfort and aesthetics are not mutually exclusive. We can, therefore, imagine a reading lamp at each end of the sofa for a symmetrical effect. In a more bohemian decor, for example, we will avoid this symmetry and we can choose two different reading lights.
CANDLES AND CANDLE JARS FOR A WARM ATMOSPHERE
In another area, more like mood lighting, we have candles and candle jars. These allow light to diffuse more widely in the room and preserve the flame of the candle. Candles are available in all sizes, shapes, and colors. They can also scent your living room to accentuate the idea of comfort. (Obviously, you have to find a fragrance that you like. There is nothing more unpleasant than a smelly candle!) The candle jars are not left out for decoration. We can find refined models in metal, ethnic models in carved wood or mosaic for a hippie side. They are also practical because they can hide a slightly ugly candle. This type of lighting is not only cozy, it create a much more intimate atmosphere. It is ideal for example for a romantic evening.
We also draw your attention to the fact that candles should be extinguished every evening. We tend to forget about it, but having too many candles or leaving them unattended can be dangerous. So be careful!
TABLE LAMPS TO HIGHLIGHT PART OF THE ROOM
Besides candles, tealight holders, and reading lights, there are often table lamps in the living room. Whatever the style of your living room, you will find lamps that will integrate perfectly with your decor. If your living room is natural, without fuss, we can think of a table lamp with a paper lampshade, very simple. If you are on the contrary more trendy design and contemporary decor, you will find lamps in glass or in more refined materials. If, for example, you plan to change the decoration of your living room and you want a Wabi-Sabi atmosphere, the materials for your lamps will come from nature and why not salvage, such as driftwood. Table lamps create a cozy atmosphere, but not only. They allow you to highlight a particular part of your living room.
Last advice before you leave, do not limit yourself with an auxiliary light for your living room. Even if you don’t turn them all on at the same time, each fixture must make sense and provide special comfort in your daily life.
