Located in Vilnius’s old district, Twin House seamlessly integrates into a neighborhood characterized by low-rise detached homes. The architects successfully balanced contemporary aesthetics with the surrounding area’s traditional architecture, creating homes that respect the past while embracing the future.
Inspired by Nature
The upper portion of the plot, defined by a verdant pine grove, heavily influenced the design. Key features include:
Expansive Windows: Large openings blur the line between indoors and outdoors, offering panoramic views of both the city and the tranquil courtyard.
Wooden Terraces: Perfect for hosting gatherings or enjoying quiet moments, the terraces provide a seamless connection to the natural environment.
Pine Grove Setting: The surrounding greenery enhances the design’s biophilic elements, fostering a sense of calm and relaxation.
Thoughtful Layout and Functionality
The design prioritizes both functionality and aesthetics through a carefully planned layout:
Basement Level: Underground garages and parking spaces ensure that vehicles are out of sight, allowing the focus to remain on the natural surroundings.
Second Floor: Bedrooms provide privacy while benefiting from natural light and serene views.
Upper Floor: With high ceilings, this level features the living room, kitchen, and dining area. Dual aspects offer contrasting yet complementary views of the city and the peaceful courtyard.
A Natural Retreat in the Urban Landscape
As urban areas become increasingly dense, Twin House offers a refreshing approach to city living. The project prioritizes harmony with nature, creating a residence that blends urban convenience with a peaceful environment.
