Courtyard House by DeForest Architects
A narrow lane and Lake Washington surround the welcoming Courtyard House in Seattle. This home was designed by DeForest Architects for people that asked for a welcoming contemporary home that offers privacy and interaction between the outdoor and indoor areas.
Welcome to a showcase of the Courtyard House by DeForest Architects in which you’ll be able to check out the details of this home.
From the architects: ” Compressed between a narrow lane and Lake Washington, this project is an exercise in negotiating the competing demands of prospect and refuge. The owners asked for a welcoming modern home with a sense of privacy and seamless connection between indoors and out.”
The main floor of the Courtyard House flows from a private entry courtyard through the great room and out to a series of waterfront entertaining spaces. The home feels very big and open thanks to the floor-to-ceiling slide doors between the hidden steel structure. On the upper floor however, privacy is achieved through a band of channel glass running the length of the house while also allowing natural light and providing glimpses of the courtyard and the green roof.
There are four bedrooms in total and each of them have a view of the lake and the private deck. The guest bath and laundry are also naturally lit throughout the day thanks to the floor-to-ceiling channel glass.
