RMT14 Residence by Design Identity Unit

Design Identity Unit – a studio out of Thailand, has designed the RMT14 Residence in the district of Khet Khan Na Yao. This luxurious modern residence offers about 14,500 square feet of living spaces embedded in stunning landscapes.

“It would be nice to come home that close to nature and feel like having a vacation in a countryside every day.” is the owner’s feeling that has been brought to the design concept. Thinking about spaces that allow nature blend in in different ways according to each building’s function; friendly, simple and yet elegance is also concerned character. For all these reasons the β€œcourtyards” is the answer.

The first

The entrance court, surrounded by a two-stories building and a car park, the flame tree is standing elegantly in the middle to welcome you home with shades of her large beautiful branches and dazzling shadow. The sloped garden adjacent to the entrance created by landscape architect not only embrace this two-stories building to be a part of the entrance court but also give a humble and calm feeling to ones who just arrive as if they are cut of the busy world outside.

The Second

The living court is also surrounded by the two-stories building, the parents’ suite and the living suite. By walking through the entrance door the covered terrace is appeared to use as a living space with a view of the central garden court where big moulmein lancewood trees were planted and whereas the spiral staircase announce itself as a sculpture. The shallow reflecting pool is designed to parallel along giving the court a peaceful feeling and privacy to the parents’ suite which located on the right of this living court.

A living suite is located on the other end, where parties are always happened in this terrace-like living room and always spill out through the court and the covered terrace.

The Third

Between the living suite and the master suite, a wooden terrace with glossy black stone wall is the entry to the owner’s very private sanctuary. This suite is surrounded by trees and green grassy hills like being in the midst of nature blending from the earth to the sky.

In term of architecture, the dark color box-shape buildings with flat roof are designed to keep a simple and humble appearance among the large trees. The two stories building is only at the front, remain buildings are single story buildings to let the resident experience living on ground under shades and shadow of their domestic forest. Moreover, interior and exterior spaces are connected by the huge openings which are able to open seamlessly, therefore, we somehow can say there is no boundary between inside and outside.

Luxury and natural is the principal for material selection. The combination of stone, woods, and steel is used in details. Start with stone wall at the entrance court to the clear glass panel of the living suite, gently blend to wood panel and the deck at the master suite, we try to let all materials expose themselves simultaneously harmonized with the nature around.

All of these make the architecture consistent with the nature. It is the harmonious cohabitation as the owner first intension. β€œwelcome home”, the flame tree said.
