Renovation of Solid Wood Flooring With Paint

In the Nordic countries, where solid wood flooring is one of the most common and cheapest coverings, over time they need some care or a change and many opt for painting. Solid pine wood slatted floors, almost untreated, are a usual finish of old and current Nordic apartments and houses.

The local raw material and the specialization of the carpenters’ union make these floors a standard in construction. Over time, as the wood is alive (it shrinks and swells with the cold or heat or can scratch) it ages and needs a change or repair. To eliminate these age defects and before changing it for another if the budget does not allow it, many opt for oil, varnish, or paint treatment.

The white painted floor continues to be a trend due to the luminosity it provides and how easy it is to change and with little care afterward, such as walking barefoot and cleaning dust when necessary, it will always be perfect. The wood flooring never goes out of style.

What do you think of this Nordic solution to renovate floors? Easy right?
