Oakville View Estate by John Maniscalco Architecture

The Oakville View Estate project is located in the heart of Oakville in Napa County, California. It is an area very well-known for its pristine wines so naturally, the views of the vineyards and the landscapes in their background create a sight to behold. The project was designed by John Maniscalco Architecturethe same studio behind the design of the spectacular Butterfly House in San Francisco.

Designed by architect John Maniscalco, Oakville View Estate is a 60-acre luxury property atop the hills in the heart of Oakville, Napa County. The one-of-a-kind home features a sleek modern design aesthetic that blends interior spaces with the outdoors through floor to ceiling glass windows and nearly 3,000 square feet of covered porches and terraces.

The main house features an elegant courtyard water feature, four bedrooms, four and a half baths, a great room with fireplace, dining and family rooms, a surround sound home theater, office, an infinity edge pool, and a 2000-bottle wine cave carved directly into the hillside. The master suite houses an indulgent steam shower and soaking tub. Centralized controls make simple work of adjusting lighting, music, temperature, security and automatic louvers and shades throughout the home. Additional Green features include an electric car charging station, solar array, reverse-osmotic wáter filtration, central air conditioning and radiant heating.

The adjacent guest house features one bedroom, one bath, living and dining room, kitchenette, outdoor shower and pool bathroom with sweeping views of Napa Valley. Also located on the estate grounds is a separate guest retreat with one bedroom, one bath, a living room, full kitchen and family room.

Beyond the primary residence, Oakville View Estate’s 60 acres contain a recreational park (accessed via a private road) with tennis and bocce courts, an outdoor kitchen and hearth, and an approximately one acre organic garden and orchard. This pristinely-manicured green space, shaded by 100-year old oak trees, houses groves of fruit and olive trees and an active honeybee colony.

The property’s stunning location in the heart of the Oakville AVA (American Viticultural Area) inspires a number of the estate’s finest features. A climate-controlled wine cave, carved directly into the hillside, provides a tasting venue and storage for up to 2,000 bottles. The property also encompasses three vineyard blocks, planted with clones and rootstock selected by Thomas Rivers Brown, Food & Wine’s 2010 Winemaker of the Year. The vines at Oakville View Estate are capable of producing 100-125 cases per year.

Oakville’s reputation for producing some of the finest wines in the world is ever-present: neighboring winegrowers include Robert Mondavi, Opus One, Screaming Eagle, Bond and Harlan.
