Before the age of social media, glimpses into the design world were few and far between. Expensive gloss magazines were one of the only ways to stay on top of current trends and styles. Nowadays we have a far broader wealth of social media accounts, blogs and magazines to look to for inspiration. Instagram has over 500 million active monthly users, many of whom are looking for design-oriented content, so it’s no surprise the platform has become wildly popular with interior designers.
For both hobbyists and experts, there’s so much joy to be had in simply swiping and scrolling through carefully-curated Instagram pictures. Whether you’re looking for some DIY ideas for the household or trying to stay on top of the constantly evolving market, there are a number of Instagram accounts that you should be checking out. For those who are toying with the idea of entering the design world, the following Instagrammers will inspire you to take that leap and set up your own account, or perhaps even an entire website with a provider like this one, in order to display all your own ideas, work, inspiration and favorite trends.
We’ve put together a list of our favorite design Instagrammers which cover all aspects including DIY projects, professional endeavors, and eye candy:
Interior Milk is always a pleasant sight in Instagram feeds. It features a delightful mix of architecture and design. The photos are beautifully shot and all have the same kind of cold blue tint that gives them a true stylistic edge.
The highlight: there are many photos of tousled bed sheets in beautiful bedrooms that look all too inviting.
This is the brain child of Todd Nickey and Amy Kehoe, a Los Angeles-based designer duo who spend their time collecting furniture from around the world, as well as designing their own. Their Instagram reflects exactly that, as well as whatever inspires them along the way.
The highlight: the worldliness of it all.
Grant’s work has been featured in many style publications over the last ten years. He successfully achieves a relaxed and easy-going aesthetic that coincides with his Bondi Beach lifestyle. His photos have a very satifyingly homely feel to them.
The highlight: it always seems to be sunny in Bondi, or wherever Grant goes.
Tara Mangini and Percy Bright are a traveling design duo with a very simple yet worldly taste. They tend to strip back interiors down to the basics and use a lot of soft, pastel colors.
The highlight: the rustic feel to all their projects.
Homestead Seattle is a beautifully-curated shop in, needless to say, Seattle, that sells a wide selection of vintage and antique furniture and décor. The Instagram profile certainly does the shop justice and features a beautiful array of antique rugs, patterned textiles and a whole lot of exotic plants.
The highlight: the luscious plants.
