Floor, wall, doors… where do we start? The choice of each finish raises many doubts. They are elements that are part of the whole of the house, they surround the furniture and decoration that you choose, but they are also part of it.
But there are times when you can’t always change the floor or you don’t want to. And then you can renovate the house with a change of doors or paint. We have already seen the different options that exist depending on the floor, but the most important thing when choosing finishes and colors for floors, doors, and walls, is to think about the whole, try to imagine the final global image. Thus one element will be related to another, nothing will clash and you will achieve the long-awaited decorating effect.
There are many possibilities but, to get it right, we give you the interior designer keys with which you will know what door finishes and what wall color goes according to the floor of your house.
1. SOIL WITH VARIOUS COLORS? TAKE ONE TO THE WALL
With a striking floor, it can also happen that doors or walls are in one of the tones present in the pavement, as in this case. One of the shades is taken and brought to the wall, keeping the interior carpentry (doors and frames) in white.
2. AND WHEN THE WALL STANDS OUT
It may happen that, as in the case of the floor, there is a wall that stands out from the rest due to its material (stone, wood, exposed brick …), either because it already existed or because it was decided to install it in a reform. So this element is the one that will guide the choice of flooring and doors. The material may help define the style of the room and this will also guide the choice of flooring.
3. THE COLOR OF THE DOORS CONTRASTS WITH EVERYTHING ELSE
This option is for those looking to surprise. It is about choosing doors that contrast with the floor and walls. Usually in a dark color. In this way, a luminous tone on the wall can be maintained (which occupies more surface area and, therefore, fills more). The floor can be light or neutral and it does not matter if it is a wooden or ceramic floor.
4. WOODEN FLOOR, WALLS, AND DOORS IN NEUTRAL
Pure white, off-white, egg white … a neutral color on walls and doors and a light wood floor has this effect: neutrality, simplicity, calm. With the dark wood floor, the effect is more elegant as well as traditional.
5. MICROCEMENT OR CEMENT FLOOR
Microcement, cement, or cement-effect ceramics. A floor of this type can be grayish or take on other shades ( remember that microcement can be made in a wide variety of colors ). With this decision made, the doors can be made of wood and give warmth through the material or lacquered. It will also influence a more rustic or industrial effect or a more current one.
6. MARBLE OR STONE ON THE FLOOR
As in the case of microcement floors, depending on the desired decorative style, with a marble or stone floor, the doors can be lacquered for a more modern and even minimalist style or in wood, seeking warmth, tradition, and timelessness. In light marble and stone tones, doors and walls can raise the tone and vice versa ( dark floor, bright doors).
