The kitchen door is perhaps the one that opens and closes the most, after the entrance (and the refrigerator, ahem). Hence the importance of choosing a model that not only looks perfect in the decoration but is also extremely functional.

If your kitchen is dark, go directly to the glass doors, so that the natural light enters. This material is also the best to connect spaces and achieve a greater sense of spaciousness. If what you are looking for is privacy, the hinged or practicable doors, and the sliding doors, in all their variants, with a wood or MDF finish will be the most appropriate. What do you want to go unnoticed? Paint it the same shade as the wall. What do you want to stand out? Paint it in another color or use the aged or pickled finish, rustic-vintage type.

1. WHERE DOES IT OPEN?

Take a good look at where you want it to open (inside or outside), not only for ergonomics but also for not leaving very large unused corners or bumping into furniture or radiators at the entrance.

2. TWO-LEAF

If the entrance opening to the kitchen is large, a one-leaf hinged door will not be enough, but you will have to use two. Lighter and more versatile, they offer a lot of play.

3. FINISHES

The final appearance of the sheet is chosen based on an overall idea. If you are looking for doors that integrate one hundred percent into the rest of the decoration, choose finishes that can be painted or factory-finished models. If they have to flash, you have two options for them: they are the same color as the sheet or, on the contrary, they stand out, painting them in a contrasting color or integrating them into the tone of the walls.

The world of interior doors is very broad and there are solutions for all budgets. The cheapest ones are worth around 120 euros (VAT included), mounted block type, and with the incorporated handle. Both the glazed and sliding type models are up to 30% more expensive.

5. PIVOTING DOORS

The pivoting opening leaves the walls intact and free of moldings, thanks to the fact that it rotates on a vertical axis. It is also useful to divide the width of the sheet between two spaces. This system allows wide openings to be closed with a single leaf, which provides visual cleanliness to the space and simplifies opening.

6. MATERIALS FOR THE STRUCTURE

The simplest is hollow, the interior of which is formed with honeycomb cardboard, which is lined with an MDF sheet. They are less resistant and isolate less noise. The most robust, insulating and heavier, and more resistant are the solid ones, which can be made of natural wood, chipboard, or DM.
