If there is one thing in which we are very different from Nordic Spaniards, when it comes to decorating a home, it is lighting, in a broad sense of the word.
We are talking about the tastes of the majority of Spaniards, not the professionals, people who have magazine houses, or different people, but the 60-70% who sleep with the blinds down all year round or live in the dark all year the day, because the light bothers them or makes them hot.
That percentage, conversely, is not even close, in Denmark for example, where nobody sleeps in the dark, (in winter because it touches, nature is like that, but in summer when there are many hours of light, they do not consider putting curtains or blinds because they make the day at 3 in the morning).
The Nordic seeks natural light all the time and a ray of sunlight, therefore, only those who have lived here for a long time hidden in the shade one August at four in the afternoon, the rest they will try to absorb as much as possible, sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
That is why natural lighting at home is very important, and for this buildings and villas are built with large windows that allow the outside to enter the house, as much as possible. Insulation is never a concern, they are windows with at least double, triple, or other treatments that protect well from the elements.
Not only is it illuminated with more or larger window buts, but the decoration elements must also be bright, therefore both white and light colors, to reflect that natural light as much as possible.
Look at the marvel of windows in this 54 m² apartment, originally built in 1912, super elegant, with that top in an arch. If you look at it, the floor has, like the one in yesterday’s post, those original decorative elements so elegant and distinguished, moldings, rosettes … but without a doubt, the natural lighting and as has been highlighted is one of the best of this second-hand home.
