Nestled in Hefei City, Anhui Province, Enjoy the Rhythm of Life is a 550㎡ residence crafted by Hangzhou Top Decoration Design Co., Ltd. Led by chief designer Yan Shaocheng, the project artfully weaves nature into its architecture, using the metaphor of the “tree of life” to create a harmonious, elegant, and functional home.

A Design Rooted in Nature: The Concept of the Tree of Life

Inspired by the seasonal rhythms of nature, the design introduces the “tree of life” as a central concept, deconstructing its elements—roots, trunk, leaves, flowers, and fruit—into the home’s spatial design. Each floor embodies a specific aspect of the tree, creating a residence that reflects growth, vitality, and connection.

The Underground Floor: Nourishing the Roots

The lower level of the home includes a study, tea-tasting area, and fitness space, representing the nutrients, water, and soil that sustain the “tree of life.”

  • Study Area: Featuring a circular suspended ceiling and curved linen sofa, this space softens geometric lines, while natural light from a skylight creates a serene reading environment.
  • Tea Tasting Area: A minimalist circular tea table anchors this open space, designed to exude tranquility and relaxation.
  • Fitness Area: This space mirrors the energy-giving soil, offering a meditative and invigorating environment for both physical exercise and mental clarity.

The First Floor: The Trunk and Main Living Areas

The first floor represents the trunk of the “tree of life,” acting as the foundation for family activities and connection.

  • Living Room: The load-bearing columns evoke tree branches, seamlessly connecting to the ceiling. Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows invite natural light and integrate the garden’s greenery into the interior, creating a vibrant, serene atmosphere.
  • Dining and Kitchen Area: This multifunctional space balances practicality with warmth. The kitchen’s open design and ample storage foster interaction, transforming meal preparation into a shared experience.
  • Parents’ Room: Large glass panels flood the room with natural light, complemented by wood tones and simple, comfortable furniture for an inviting retreat.

The Second Floor: Blossoms and Leaves

The upper level symbolizes the “tree of life” flourishing with blossoms, leaves, and bird nests, reflecting the vitality of the family’s younger members.

  • Children’s Rooms: Soft pink tones and flower-shaped beds create lively, romantic spaces. Fashionable yet playful, these rooms are designed to nurture creativity and joy.
  • Master Bedroom: Representing the tree’s fruit, the master suite exudes tranquility and fulfillment. Earthy tones and natural materials harmonize with the soft lighting, offering a luxurious and peaceful escape.

Design Details: Balancing Aesthetics and Functionality

Throughout the home, materials like woodwork and micro cement lend a natural, textured aesthetic. Subtle contrasts between soft tones and rich textures create a calming yet dynamic environment. The residence prioritizes natural light and open layouts, blending interior spaces with the surrounding environment for a seamless connection to nature.
