Decor Trend – Cane & Rattan Furniture

After the Scandinavian trend, wood is still in the spotlight in our interiors, and there are two different ways to add a touch of wood with a certain lightness.

DECORATIVE FURNITURE AND CANE

Caning, even if the word doesn’t mean anything to you, you may know it. It is a weaving technique, it is often found on chair structures to hold the foam for example. This technique is back in fashion, but just on the chairs. Caning is found in different types of furniture. On the doors of a sideboard for example or on the armrest of an armchair. What is interesting with a cane is that the honeycomb appearance creates a kind of lightness in part of the furniture. Visually, it’s more pleasant. And when we have a somewhat small interior for our taste, this allows us to avoid the overly crowded effect. Which is also nice with the caning in our time, is that it is not necessarily obsolete. If we associate it with a trendy color, caning becomes much more contemporary.

DECORATIVE RATTAN FURNITURE

Rattan is used for caning, but there are also pieces of furniture whose structure is itself made of rattan. This type of furniture was popular until the early 90s and has been coming back into our interiors for a few years. Rattan furniture is interesting, we think because it reminds us a little of our childhood, a certain softness, even an attachment, emerges from it. There is also an idea of relaxation and summer which is linked to rattan furniture which explains why they are often found in the veranda for example.
