Designed by Alexander Tischler, this colorful apartment in Yekaterinburg reflects the essence of modern family living. Spanning 1,280 sq ft, the 2021 project combines vibrant accents, flexible zoning, and smart spatial solutions tailored to a family with a teenage daughter. The interior masterfully blends contemporary style with daily practicality, delivering a space that feels both energetic and serene.
Open Plan Living with Vibrant Harmony
At the heart of the apartment is a bright and open living space, achieved by removing partitions between the hallway, kitchen, and living room. The unified zone is perfect for hosting guests or relaxing as a family. The kitchen, clad in Rex white onyx porcelain stoneware, features floor-to-ceiling cabinetry with integrated handles to preserve its minimalist aesthetic. White appliances, counters, and dining furniture provide contrast and cohesion across the space.
The curved sofa becomes the living room’s sculptural focal point, aligned with both the dining table and TV, enabling seamless interaction from all angles. Vibrant textures and geometric lines add character without overwhelming the clean architectural lines.
Enhanced Functionality in Everyday Areas
Laundry Room
Originally 2.9 m², the laundry room was expanded to 6.9 m², significantly improving utility. A tall column cabinet houses the washer and dryer, while open shelving and a concealed water heater ensure convenient, clutter-free storage. Repositioning the door enhanced privacy and better divided the laundry from the hallway.
Balcony
The balcony, though unheated, is transformed into a cozy retreat with a cushioned seat and subtle lighting—perfect for warm-weather reading or quiet reflection.
Private Zones with Smart Zoning
Master Bedroom
The master suite includes a walk-through dressing room with open and closed units leading to a zoned bedroom. An oak veneer screen delicately separates the work area from the sleeping space. Hanging nightstands, concealed lighting, and laconic lamps complement the serene palette. The en-suite bathroom features a ceiling-height mirror, faux stone sink, and wall-hung toilet with a storage cabinet above.
Children’s Room
Designed with creativity and independence in mind, the teenager’s room has a desk at the entrance, separated from the bed by a double-sided shelving unit that balances display and concealment. A console near the window offers a second workspace or lounge area. A watercolor radiator and adjustable ceiling light inject whimsy and comfort.
Subtle Sophistication in the Details
The entry hallway maximizes utility with floor-to-ceiling mirrored closet fronts and integrated lighting, enhancing both function and spaciousness. A secondary closet offers off-season storage, while concealed panels house electrical and communication systems, ensuring a clutter-free aesthetic throughout the apartment.
