Located in the tranquil village of Pererenan, Bali, Akashi Bali is a distinctive six-bedroom residence that redefines tropical living through a vibrant blend of creativity, light, and movement. Designed by Alexis Dornier, this 1,385 m² home is a masterful expression of modern architecture infused with a joyful spirit.

🎨 A Sculptural Void That Inspires Wonder

At the heart of the residence lies a bold architectural feature—a sculptural central void that floods the home with natural light and ventilation. Anchored within this soaring space is a curvaceous slide, serving as both a playful centerpiece and a functional design element. Far from a novelty, the slide invites interaction and delight, symbolizing the home’s ethos: that architecture should spark joy.

The custom-designed handrail system, mimicking a flowing conveyor belt, amplifies the sense of motion throughout the vertical space. The open floor plan and strategic sightlines ensure that this central void becomes an energetic connector, both visually and physically linking the home’s levels.

🌿 Balancing Playfulness With Serenity

While the interior radiates kinetic energy, the lower level opens to a peaceful swimming pool, offering moments of calm. Surrounded by lush landscaping crafted by Bali Landscape Company, the outdoor area emphasizes the fluid transition between interior and exterior—a hallmark of Dornier’s design language.

The integration of natural materials, open-air spaces, and tropical flora reflects the beauty of Balinese climate and its potential for year-round indoor-outdoor living. This harmony between liveliness and tranquility allows the home to feel alive, yet rooted.

✨ Interior and Landscape Synergy

The interiors, designed in collaboration with Severiano and Alexis Dornier, mirror the home’s overall philosophy: organic flow, tactile finishes, and an openness to nature. Carefully selected materials and minimalist detailing ensure that each space resonates with warmth and intentionality.
