A Slow Bed & Breakfast In Tuscany

There are wonderful places where we would like to spend our life. This house makes me the dream, it’s the kind of place we would like to bring to life because it’s the kind of place we want to bring to life by welcoming passing friends, large families, or guests.

Valdirose is a family house, renovated with passion by a couple of lovers of the passing time and the good things. They made it a guest room. Located in the hills of Lastra a Signa, in Tuscany, the 19th-century villa was bought by Irene Berni’s grandmother in the 1950s. Today, therefore, we can, time for a visit to Florence and its surroundings, to experience the “dolce vita” there, because yes, life here seems sweet.

We love the bourgeois houses of this period, with their high ceilings, the charm of the crisp parquet floors, the large windows open to the light, the moldings… We would even speak of the smells.

It does not remain months, that embarking on the renovation of this type of residence is a real challenge. They are open to any wind, poorly insulated. There, we are in Tuscany, the climate is quite mild. The fact remains that it is necessary to insulate, redo electricity and plumbing, in general, the roof, all without distorting the spirit of the place. This is where the whole challenge lies and it takes a hell of a budget. The decoration should look almost easy because the background is there. There is not much to enhance the place. The couple chose simplicity: a neutral background, warmed by omnipresent wood which perfectly highlights the furniture found in second-hand shops and old family furniture. There is something nostalgic in its decorations, where current design objects hardly find their place. This is the charm of the place.
