Each style of decoration has its range of colors and in the seaside style the harmony which returns most often is blue, white, wood even if it is possible to have variants with gray or even tones which draw towards the sand color. Let’s take a closer look at how and why to use this winning trio in the kitchen.
The bench no longer has its proofs to do, we can thank the Scandinavian atmospheres for that. White in the kitchen is synonymous with cleanliness. In the kitchen as in the bathroom, you expect a clean room, and white contributes to this perception. (I’m not saying that by putting white, the kitchen will clean itself, eh!) White is also a symbol of light. We explained in the introduction, for me, the kitchen must be a functional space, so it is essential to see clearly. White allows light to diffuse more easily in your space.
The blue color of the sea in our imagination. It sometimes has the power to be warm even if it is a color considered cold. It will energize the whole white and wood of your living room. It is found in different forms, we come back to it right after. Blue can be pastel for softness. It can be marine for its intimate and symbolic side. It can turn gray for a more modern and sweet kitchen.
Even if blue is not the generally dominant color in a seaside kitchen, it is interesting to wonder that it is the place to give it. There is a question of proportions. Blue is used to enhance the whole, so it will only be present in small touches. There is also a question of space: where to put blue in a kitchen?
The first place of blue is the one that seems to be the most obvious, especially when you do not want to change your kitchen furniture: blue is found on the walls. You can choose to paint only one wall in blue to bring out the white furniture, to give it more importance. And blue is not only in the form of paint! The wall splashboard can be the touch of blue in your kitchen.
More daring and not less decorative, you can choose to bring color to the kitchen thanks to the kitchen furniture. They are an important part of the room both from a practical point of view and from a decorative point of view. So why not choose a blue kitchen ?! At the moment, dark colors are on-trend and we are starting to see kitchens predominantly dark and other than gray appearing in kitchen vendors. Navy blue has a place of choice. We also have a midnight blue, lapis lazuli, cobalt, or overseas blue. It’s a daring choice but so elegant!
