Historical Long Building by MSE Architecture

Within the scope of the Büyükyalı Istanbul project, the interior design and projects of which has been undertaken by MSE Architecture (Metex Studio Erk), the renovation of Fisekhane (Cartridge Factory) known as the Historical Long Building has been carried out.

The historical workshop building of a length of 180 meters consists of 23 independent residences in which all modern details regarding authentic loft life are integrated without affecting the building’s architecture.

While its life units, planned to be used not only as residences but also as offices, stand out with features emphasizing the industrial texture such as their masonry stone walls, high ceilings and impressive wood structures, an impeccable match has been created by focusing on the use of natural wood and metal in its interior design. While two-story lofts shaped by plannings of a width of three or four modules according to the axis intervals determined by the carrier system host all the needs of contemporary life, they have been completed with interior design elements where simple, modern and neutral colors not competing with the historical texture have been selected.

In order not to intervene in the existing walls of the building, sunlight is benefited by means of roof windows and new walls have been added only for bedrooms and bathrooms. Lofts can be personalized according to the use thanks to their open-plan system and leave space for their residents for authenticity with their flexible designs enabling change.

Offering an extraordinary life, the Historical Long Building brings together the past and the present while providing a unique added value for the whole of the project.
