If we saw the before and after of this house, we probably wouldn’t recognize it. And this house on the outskirts of Barcelona had enormous potential… but it needed a radical transformation. Although it had good windows, the dark walls and decorations drowned out the natural light, turning this house into a gloomy, lifeless space.
A LIVING ROOM WITH A VERY LIGHT NEUTRAL BASE
This one has large windows that flood it with light, but its dark walls and floors don’t let it shine. To restore clarity, the decorator has dyed everything cream, creating a luminous and timeless base on which she adds colour, warmth – with wood and fibres – and style with special pieces such as the dining table.
A TWO-USED DECORATIVE BOOKSHELF
It uses the wall behind the sofa, serves as a piece of furniture in the living room and provides additional storage space. Painted white, it has a capacity, is light and creates an orderly overall picture thanks to its symmetrical design. Up the stairs is a second living area, a little more secluded, next to the fireplace.
A PORCH WITH GLASS WALLS TO BE ENJOYED ALL YEAR ROUND
This porch knows no seasons. Thanks to its glazed sides, you can enjoy the feeling of being outside in the middle of winter. And in summer it can be opened completely because its doors fold like an accordion. In addition, since there are no profiles, the view is cleaner: it eliminates the boundaries between the interior and the garden, visually expanding the space.
A WHITE KITCHEN THAT IS A LIGHTBOX
This kitchen has multiplied the light thanks to the reform. The decorator opened it up through a large sliding door to the dining room and living room with a guillotine-like glass panel that runs the length of the entire front of the bar. The furniture and parapet of white subway tiles optically multiply the light.
A VERY COZY BEDROOM DECORATED WITH THE PLOTS
Although the bedroom has a full dressing room and bathroom en suite, the sleeping area is smaller, so the decorator has used a few light pieces. The headboard is a slatted ceiling light – matching the children’s room – with two mini shelves as a bedside table and built-in wall lights.
