With adhesive vinyl, garlands, luminous advent stars, crowns… Learn how to decorate the windows of your house to infect them with the magic of Christmas.
The tree, the wreath on the door, the centerpiece, the poinsettia… And what about the windows? They are the great ones forgotten during Christmas. Because in the Nordic countries it is rare to find a house that does not have its windows decorated for Christmas, even if only with a luminous Advent star or a composition of candles.
This tradition, which turns the streets of the Nordic cities during these holidays into a showcase of the hygge spirit, is gradually reaching our homes. And the Christmas decorations, which often seem to be only indoors, are beginning to be shared through the glass. And incidentally, to fill the streets of our cities with magic, which are enriched by these ornate windows.
1. WITH WOODEN HOUSES
A few wooden houses on the windowsill and a few snowflakes hung by twine are enough to create this charming vintage-style proposal to decorate a window at Christmas.
2. OVERLAP MULTIPLE GARLANDS
Green, white, with black motifs, with mini Christmas balls… It is an easy and very effective way to dress the windows and create a special corner with very little. Also, the little ones are sure to love this festive spirit.
3. MAY THE STAR NOT BE MISSING!
And even more so if it is bright. Because, in addition to decorating, it will create a more welcoming atmosphere. Today there are models that work on batteries, so it will not be necessary to have an outlet nearby.
4. A COLLECTION OF CANDLES
If you have a window ledge, decorate it for the holidays too. Here a composition of candles and glass has been made, as elegant as cozy . To avoid accidents, especially if there are little ones at home or if you have curtains, a good option is to opt for electric candles, as has been done here. Safer and with the same magic as natural ones.
5. SNOW INSIDE AND OUTSIDE
Snowflakes are a classic to decorate windows at Christmas, snow or not in our area. Combine different designs, as has been done here, to make the composition richer.
6. A DIY GARLAND
Surely the little ones at home will love this fun way to decorate the window. To make this garland, metal molds have been used to make cookies of different shapes. To make them more decorative, the base has been personalized with different wrapping papers. It only remains to pierce the mold to hang it. You dare?
7. WE DRAW?
If you are good at drawing, take inspiration from this proposal and turn your windows into a work of art. You only need a special marker for glass. You can complete the “painting” with a luminous garland, like here.
8. ALSO FROM OUTSIDE
This proposal reminds us that windows have two faces: the one inside the house and the one outside. So why not decorate them too to enjoy them from the outside? Especially if you have a terrace or an exit to the outside, like here. A luminous garland – choose it especially for the exterior – decorates and illuminates at the same time, creating a very magical effect inside and outside.
9. A COMPOSITION OF CROWNS
The particularity of this proposal is that wreaths of different sizes and materials have been combined: with olive branches, eucalyptus leaves, fir twigs … Hang them, as here, at different heights for a more natural and informal effect.
