5 Steps To Plan The Perfect Custom Pantry

Learn to design a functional pantry in which you have all the products at hand and organized.

1. HOW MUCH SPACE DO YOU NEED?

You don’t need a giant kitchen to organize an ideal pantry that is functional and practical. You just have to free up at least 1 m 2 and install 20 cm deep shelves or cabinets to be able to store the basics. If you have more meters to create a separate pantry, consider the possibility of installing sliding doors to take advantage of the space.

2. ORGANIZE BY CATEGORY

Group foods logically and reserve the shelves that are at your height for the ones you use the most and the ones that expire first. Use clear containers to store them so you don’t have to open or label them to find out what’s in them and avoid visual clutter.

3. DON’T ACCUMULATE

Don’t buy more than you need and limit yourself to keeping at most two packages of each type of food. To make it easy to access the products, they are not forgotten and end up expiring, try not to make more than two rows per shelf. You can stack vertically if you have space and do not detract from visibility.

4. BELOW, WHAT WEIGHS THE MOST

Reserve the lower shelves, 8 more accessible (between 90 and 160 cm), for the products you use the most. On the lower shelves, place the heaviest ones, such as water bottles, tetra bricks, or oils. You can store them in drawers with wheels to make it easier to move them.

5. EVERYTHING IN ITS PLACE

Use glass jars, containers, boxes, or baskets to store by category and take advantage of the height of the shelves. If they are the same or very similar, you will help everything look more orderly. Adjust the size of the containers to what you are going to store (calculate 50% more than their original weight). In the drawers, use dividers to take advantage of the space.
